Hoping to Get Better

This is what we have been dealing with in our family since the end of January. Elliott has been on medication since then for strep throat and an ear infection. There was a slight break in between medications, but we were back again just last week because apparently the first round of antibiotics didn't work. I came home early from school the other day with aches, sore throat, and now a runny nose, and Matigan ran a slight fever yesterday! Of course she blamed it on the two kids at school who "just kept playing puppy dogs and wouldn't leave me alone!"

We have parent-teacher conferences today, so I don't have to be to work until 1. It felt really good to sleep in (8:30 - when did that become sleeping in?). Anyway, that means we are all off tomorrow as this is Kris' long weekend off as well. Hopefully, we will all be feeling better by tomorrow, so we can go do a little shopping!

Elliott Turns 8!!!

Today is Elliott's 8th birthday. I can't believe that my little boy is that old already!

Matigan got her hair cut - short - yesterday. We were simply tired of dealing with the tangles. I think it looks so cute. We had to go out in the rain yesterday, and she ran for the store saying "My new hair can't get rained on!!"

Where does 8 years go? Doesn't seem like it was that long ago when we were anticipaing the birth of our first baby. We hadn't found out what we were having, and it was probably a full 5 minutes after he was born - because they took him right away to clean him up and check him out - before the doctor asked us "You knew what you were having, right?" We were so excited when he announced "It's a boy!" Life since that time has held many changes, challenges, and especially joys. I love the boy that Elliott is growing up to be. Not that each day doesn't bring some turmoil, but I can see him growing up with such a great sense of humor, a kindness for people and animals, and a love of sports. So happy birthday to our "little guy." We are so proud of you and what you are teaching us as parents.
